Marcellus Bowie, Founder

Marcellus leads Legit Stats overall strategy and vision including spearheading growth in key business segments. In 2017, the Legit Stats CEO was selected as the youngest member of the Loudoun Business Journal 40 Under 40 highlighting Northern Virginia’s top business leaders. That same year, he was tabbed as the Virginia State University Young Alumni of the Year!

 

Legit Stats has ascended to a position among the leaders in the sports analytics industry while focusing on youth and high school athletics by following the 28 year old Founder’s lead. The company’s statisticians have provided stats for over 4,000 teams, games, & events. Bowie currently serves on the advisory board for the Premier Youth Basketball League and the Capital Classic All Star Game.

 

Prior to starting Legit Stats, Marcellus held a position as a statistician for the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. At the ripe age of 20, he was the youngest member of the EYBL’s first team of statisticians. He also obtained internships with the McDonald’s All-American Game as well as the Virginia State University Sports Information Department prior to his graduation from VSU in 2012. His passion for working in the realm of sports has been apparent since an early age.

 

Since then, Bowie has strived to make an impact in the community providing jobs for dozens of youth interested in the sports management industry. He has helped promote individuals straight from his company to professional franchises like the New York Yankees, Washington Wizards, and St. Louis Cardinals. The Loudoun County native has spent a number of hours as a mentor and guest speaker for students at Old Dominion University in addition to his alma mater Virginia State University. He also has been invited to speak at Bucknell University, George Mason University, and Gonzaga College High School. He is on a mission to provide opportunities for the next generation of sport management professionals!
